How to estimate what a card is worth

A trustworthy estimate begins with the exact printing, not just the player or character name.

Use the strongest evidence first

1. Confirm the year, set, number, parallel, attributes, and condition.
2. Find recent completed sales for the exact card.
3. Remove obvious mismatches and unusual outliers.
4. Use a reasonable range and median rather than the highest sale.
5. Lower confidence when sales are old, scarce, or only comparable rather than exact.

Do not confuse asking prices with sales

An active listing shows what a seller hopes to receive. It does not prove a buyer paid that amount. Guide values and modeled comparisons can be useful, but they should be labeled separately from exact completed-sale evidence.
